At the 31st World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia & Oceania region ceremony held in Manila, Philippines on September 3, 2024, Hanoi, along with many other outstanding destinations and organizations, was honored with several awards for 2024.

This is the third time Hanoi has been recognized in the category of “Asia’s Leading City Destination” (in 2022, 2023, and 2024), demonstrating Hanoi’s position as a top travel destination in Asia and highlighting the city’s strong rise on the regional map.

At the same time, it is the second consecutive win in the category of “Asia’s Leading City Break Destination” (in 2023 and 2024), affirming Hanoi’s appeal to both domestic and international travelers, especially those seeking short but rich and memorable getaways.

Notably, 2024 marks Hanoi’s first win in the category of “Vietnam’s Leading City Cultural Destination,” acknowledging the city’s cultural, historical, and traditional values – where numerous tangible and intangible cultural heritage sites are preserved and developed over centuries.

With more than 1,000 years of history, Hanoi brings together the essence of Vietnamese culture, making it an ideal destination for travelers interested in exploring history and culture.

The Vietnam Military History Museum, funded and newly constructed by the Ministry of National Defense, is situated in the areas of Tây Mỗ and Đại Mỗ wards, Nam Từ Liêm district, Hanoi. The construction commenced in 2019, covering an expansive area of 386,600 square meters.

Currently, the museum houses more than 150,000 artifacts, including four national treasures and numerous other invaluable items.

With its modern design and multifunctional capabilities, the architecture of the museum not only serves as an exhibition space for military history but also fosters an interactive environment, enabling visitors to explore and gain insights into the heroic struggle for Vietnam’s national independence, as led by the Vietnam People’s Army.

The Vietnam Military History Museum officially opened its doors to the public, offering free admission from November 1, 2024, until the end of December 2024.
